In our children’s ministry, Katalyst Kids, we are talking about being the light (Matthew 5:16) and it got me thinking about how we, as adults, need this reminder too. There is so much going on in our world right now and a lot of it is very dark. People are searching for answers, they’re searching for truth, they’re reaching for light. So, what are we, as Christians, supposed to do?

Peter speaks to the followers of Jesus in the New Testament and tells them to always be ready to give an answer for the hope within.

1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.

Be ready to give an answer for the peace you have even in the middle of this pandemic.

Be ready to give an answer for the joy you have even when faced with trials and tribulations.

Your walk with God is a valuable living testimony of God’s goodness and mercy.

When people look at our lives, what do they see? When they look at our social media, our posts, our comments, our likes…what do they see?

What do they see when we are out in public?

How do we treat those around us?

How do we act at work?

Do the words we speak and the life we live point them to Jesus?

Have we crucified our flesh?

Have we picked up our cross to follow Him?

We are set apart this very hour for a reason. I guarantee that people are going to start asking how we remain blessed and of a sound mind through it all because we do not fear like the world fears. We know and have the blessed assurance of hope through Jesus. My prayer, lately, has been that God take the scales off of people’s eyes so their hearts may be turned back toward Him.

So, that’s the answer. What can we do? We can live for Jesus. Our job is to be the light and point others to Jesus because He is the way, the truth, and the life.

Your family and friends may never accept your invitation to go to church, but they will most definitely watch you and listen to the words you speak. They will see the transformation God has made in your heart. And, through your life, you can preach the gospel to them.

Brothers and Sisters in Christ, you are the salt and the light in this world! Remember, people are watching you, so be ready to give an answer and point them to Christ!

Blessings,

Mandy Fender
